Two different ways a colour requirement can begin

One buyer may need to discuss a polyester pigment paste within a defined FRP material system. Another may be evaluating an existing pre-pigmented polyester-resin grade. These are not interchangeable product descriptions, even when the finished component is intended to have colour.

Use the pigment-paste route when the system needs to be identified

A pigment-paste enquiry should state the intended resin or gelcoat system, component, shade or appearance requirement, quantity and delivery location. The published pigment product names UPR, vinyl ester and gelcoat system context. Compatibility still needs to be checked against the actual base material and application.

Use the pre-pigmented-resin route when evaluating that published grade

Where the buyer is considering a published pre-pigmented resin grade, review that product page and its TDS on their own terms. Do not infer its technical properties, use cases or availability from the pigment-paste page. The resin grade and the colour-component discussion remain separate decisions.

Ask a product-role question before a price question

Before requesting a quote, state whether the need is for pigment paste or a pre-pigmented resin grade, then include the intended FRP component, base system or published product under review, required colour reference if known, expected quantity and delivery location. This reduces the risk of comparing unlike materials.
